Christianity, despite the substantial and positive contributions it has made to the social capital, material prosperity and institutional life of the United Kingdom and many other countries, is currently being marginalised in a process of rapid and seemingly irreversible secularisation. To speak or write from a Christian perspective on almost any topic now invites ridicule or worse. This is a great shame because our more secular society seems to bring with it great problems of political, legal and moral direction, as witness the recent banking crisis.
